Get the Most Out of Every Tool

Growth Capital Group has five interactive tools โ€” this page introduces each one and walks through exactly how to use it, so you can jump in with confidence.

๐Ÿ“ก
Tool 1 of 5
Signal Tracker
Open Signal Tracker โ†’

The Signal Tracker turns technical indicators into plain-English buy and sell alerts, then runs a simulated, paper-trading engine so you can watch a strategy play out โ€” with your own capital and risk settings, but with no real money involved.

How to use it
  1. Set your starting capital and risk per trade in the left panel, so position sizes are calculated realistically.
  2. Build a watchlist and choose a timeframe โ€” from 1-minute charts up to weekly candles.
  3. Press "Run Strategy" to start the simulation. Signals fire live on the chart as conditions are met.
  4. Watch the Open Positions table to see simulated trades enter and exit, with running P&L.
  5. Tap the ๐Ÿ”” bell next to the stats row any time to set price alerts on specific levels you care about.
  6. Click "Save My Defaults" once you're happy with a setup, so it's ready next time you visit.
Tip: everything here is simulated, educational paper-trading โ€” it's a safe place to see how a strategy would have behaved before ever risking real money.

Tool 2 of 5
Backtester
Open Backtester โ†’

The Backtester lets you test a trading idea against years of real market history โ€” completely free, with no real money involved โ€” so you can see how it would have performed before you ever put a pound in.

How to use it
  1. Type in a symbol (e.g. AAPL or BTC-USD) and pick a date range and candle interval to test over.
  2. Choose your indicators in Basic mode for a quick RSI-only test, or Detailed mode to combine several indicators with custom parameters.
  3. Name and save your strategy so you can reload or compare it later.
  4. Press "Run Backtest" to simulate every trade the strategy would have made over that history.
  5. Review the results โ€” total return, win rate, and how the strategy's equity curve moved over time.
  6. Tweak one setting at a time and re-run to see what actually improves the result, rather than guessing.
Tip: a strategy that worked brilliantly on the last 6 months isn't automatically a good strategy โ€” test across different date ranges, including a downturn, before you trust it.

Tool 3 of 5
Portfolio Balancer
Open Portfolio Balancer โ†’

The Portfolio Balancer is a simple place to track everything you actually own โ€” savings, an ISA, crypto, property, anything โ€” so you can see your total balance, your overall gain or loss, and how your money is spread out, all in one screen.

How to use it
  1. Click "+ Add Investment" and fill in a name, some optional details, its initial value, and what it's worth today.
  2. Watch the donut chart and allocation table update instantly to show how that investment fits into your overall mix.
  3. Click any investment card to expand it and see its full detail โ€” initial value, total invested, current value, and gain/loss.
  4. Use "+ Add Funds" whenever you top up an investment with new money โ€” it's tracked separately, so it's never mistaken for profit.
  5. Use "โ†ป Update Value" whenever an investment's worth changes, to keep your current value accurate โ€” every change is logged with its date.
  6. Check the "Balanced Portfolio Value" box on the right โ€” it's simply the sum of every investment's current value, kept up to date automatically.
Tip: your gain/loss percentage always compares your current value against what you've actually put in (initial value + top-ups) โ€” never against money you just deposited.

Tool 4 of 5
Calculator
Open Calculator โ†’

The Calculator is a set of three focused position-sizing tools in one place โ€” work out exactly how much to risk before you place a trade, instead of guessing.

How to use it
  1. Kelly Criterion โ€” enter your account balance, win rate, and average win/loss per trade to get a suggested bet size that balances growth against risk of ruin.
  2. Calculator (pip/price distance) โ€” pick a currency pair, enter the current price, your target price, and lot size to see the distance to target and its value.
  3. Risk โ†’ Position Size โ€” enter how much you're willing to risk, your currency, and your stop-loss in pips to get a suggested position size and unit count.
  4. Use the results before you trade, not after โ€” plug in numbers first, then size the position to match what the calculator suggests.
Tip: the Kelly Criterion can suggest aggressive position sizes โ€” many traders use a fraction (e.g. half-Kelly) rather than the full suggested size to smooth out the ride.

Tool 5 of 5
Data Visualisation
Open Data Visualisation โ†’

Data Visualisation is a growing library of interactive charts and dashboards โ€” like the live Global Heat Map โ€” that turn raw market data into clear, at-a-glance insight, each with editorial commentary from the Alpha team.

How to use it
  1. Browse the gallery of available visualisations to see what's currently published.
  2. Click into any card to open the full chart or dashboard, along with the commentary that accompanies it.
  3. For live widgets like the Global Heat Map, hover or interact directly with the chart to explore the underlying data.
  4. Check back regularly โ€” new visualisations and commentary are published and updated on an ongoing basis.
Tip: treat the commentary alongside each chart as one perspective, not a signal to act on โ€” use it to sharpen your own thinking about what the data shows.
